KRISTIN BORTLES

Kristin Bortles was born and raised in Hawai'i. She has lived and worked in New Mexico for 23 years. With vistas comparable in grandeur to those of her childhood, New Mexico has fed Bortles artistically and has been a nurturing environment for her to generate artwork.

Bortles has two art degrees, a BFA from Southern Methodist University and an MFA from American University. Bortles is a mother, a studio artist and a decorative painter/designer. Her most recent work implements textile design and decorative pattern to generate imagery. The result is a contemplative experience of making and viewing the work.
